The red flour beetle attacks stored grain and other food products including flour, cereals, pasta, biscuits, beans, and nuts, causing loss and damage they are often called grain feeders. It may cause an allergic response, as well, but is not known to cause damage to structures or furniture. Survives Canadian winters in heated and protected places and is distributed worldwide and is more common in warmer climates.
Red flour beetle has one of the highest rates of population growth for stored-product insects. Each female lays 400 to 500 eggs.
